Tom is the Maintenance Manager at Dews Coaches and responsible for the fleet maintenance. Tom left Melbourn Village College in 1983. An apprenticeship came up at a local coach company and Tom decided to take this opportunity.
As a consequence, Tom was at eighteen driving school bus to the college he left two years earlier. Tom completed a City and Guilds at Cambridge Regional College and then settled into maintaining coaches at Millers of Cambridge and Premier Travel for the next 11 years.
In 1996 Tom decided it was time for a change and on the 6th January 1997 he started work at Dews Coaches as a Maintenance Manager. Tom was delighted to be running the workshop, his way, amongst a fleet of modern coaches for a family run business. The fleet grew steadily and with that the maintenance team increased to four to competently maintain the fleet. Tom spends more time these days behind a desk meeting legislative and audit requirements but still enjoys a hands on role in the workshop and yard when it is required.
Tom loves sport and has played both Cricket and Football for Foxton since the age of 13. Tom enjoys a weekly game of Petanque during the summer months for his local pub team. Tom is married to Kerry with two sons, who support Tom in his role and the time out of work hours spent ensuring our Customers receive the vehicle and reliability they have come to expect from Dews Coaches as a Company.
Tom has seen a lot of changes in the Industry and within the Company but when asked would you change what you do the answer is simple – never! It is in his blood.
